Keto Kitchen Staples – Your Grocery List

So many people get confused about what items to buy that first time they go grocery shopping with the intent of starting a new healthy way of eating. Here is a list of must have items to keep in stock:

Pantry:

  1. Almond meal/flour
  2. Keto approved sweetener: xylitol/stevia/erythritol/monk fruit (I prefer xylitol. Tastes like sugar, perfect for baking)
  3. Psyllium husks
  4. xantham gum
  5. coconut flour
  6. unsweetened shredded coconut
  7. Cocoa powder
  8. Nuts and seeds (avoid peanuts and cashews)
  9. Nut butters
  10. Coconut oil
  11. Avocado/grape seed/olive oil
  12. Olives

Fridge:

  1. Salsa
  2. Sour cream
  3. Full fat yogurt/cottage cheese
  4. Avocado
  5. Full fat cheeses – all types
  6. Fatty meats (chicken dark meat with skin, steak, sausages)
  7. Fish and seafood – all types
  8. Bacon/turkey bacon (look out for no added sugar!)
  9. Cream cheese
  10. Heavy Whipping cream
  11. Mayonnaise
  12. Eggs
  13. Berries (strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries)
  14. Keto-approved veggies
  15. Salad dressings (Caesar, ranch, blue cheese, etc. BUT check ingredients for added sugars and carbs)
  16. Butter
  17. Finely grated Parmesan (used for “breading”)
  18. Coconut milk

Spices:

  1. Cinnamon
  2. Nutmeg
  3. Cayenne pepper
  4. Paprika
  5. Smoked Paprika
  6. Himalayan Pink salt
  7. Pepper
  8. Garlic powder
  9. onion powder
  10. dried minced garlic flakes
  11. dried minced onion flakes
  12. curry powder
  13. cajun seasoning (watch for starches added here)
  14. Dried oregano
  15. Dried thyme
  16. Dried rosemary
  17. Cumin
  18. Tumeric
  19. Ground mustard seed
  20. dried cloves
  21. cream of tartar
